dancing atop lily pads wood wall art

This is a superimposed print on wood of my painting called dancing atop lily pads. I made this artwork as I love lily pads and the idea that you cannot walk on water. In this piece I have painted figures dancing on lilypads. Pushing the idea of walking on water to the extreme. Lily pads hardly hold anything, maybe a small frog at most. How can they hold people who weight 100's of times more? I am exploring the possibilities available to two people who come together as one, in an unusual situation. They can now achieve the impossible after uniting. My intention with this artwork is to encourage the viewer to go out into this amazing world with other people, try out new experiences and see how much more they are able to achieve now they are with a partner. This a multi-layered artwork on paper using watercolour paint, some stencil work and both sponge and a variety of other brushes to achieve a textured multi-dimensional image. This collection aims to portray the ability of people to connect in a variety of strange and unfamiliar environments. In a time of uncertainty and anxiety i'm setting the stage for spaces in which people can connect with each other. Watercolour was chosen as the medium as it runs the gamut from soft pastel effects to intense colour presentation. It was important to me to use familiar images in order to communicate my message in the most easily accessible manner.
