Here you see Death as a skeleton approaching people of all stations and walks of life, reaffirming that Death is the great leveler/equalizer. They were produced as an artistic genre of religious works from the 1400s thru the 1800s, late medieval period to remind people of the fragility of their lives and how vain were the glories of earthly life.
