Darlingtonia californica, Carnivorous Plant Beer Stein

This handsome beer stein features a beautiful botanical drawing of the carnivorous plant Darlingtonia californica. Also called the California Pitcher Plant, Cobra Plant, or Cobra Lily, it is the only member of the genus Darlingtonia in the family Sarraceniaceae. Native to southwestern Oregon and northern California, it grows in bogs and seeps with cold running water. The common name Cobra Plant comes from how its tubular leaves resemble a rearing cobra, with a forked end that looks like fangs or a snake’s tongue. The leaves produce no digestive enzymes; the breakdown of insects is bacterial.
