Day of the Dead Día de los Muertos Fabric

Doodle Art is trending right now, not just as a creative art form but as a graphic design element on fashion clothing, room decor items and accessories. To say I love doodling is an understatement. This week I am giving attention to the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead. This holiday is a big deal in Mexico and is increasingly popular now in America. Word of this colorful festival style celebration is spreading across the pond and we in Europe are also taking note! We can't get enough of the colorful Sugar Art Skulls, brightly dressed skeletons and highly decorative graveyards. What is The Day of the Dead ? Frances Ann Day summarizes the three-day celebration: "The Day of the Dead:On October 31, All Hallows Eve, the children make a children's altar to invite the angelitos (spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit. November 1 is All Saints Day, and the adult spirits will come to visit. November 2 is All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives. The three-day fiesta is filled with marigolds, the flowers of the dead; muertos (the bread of the dead); sugar skulls; cardboard skeletons; tissue paper decorations; fruit and nuts; incense, and other traditional foods and decorations".— Frances Ann Day, Latina and Latino Voices in Literature. I have a number of Day of the Dead doodle patterns but for now this is my favorite. I hope you like it! It features Mexican women dressed as the dead in flamboyant hats, flower embellished clothing and carrying decorative fans. Each lady has her face painted in the traditional 'Sugar art skull' type of design. Dispersed between the ladies are skulls and flowers.
