The pattern is inspired by a fifteenth century decorative initial letter (see Robert William Tymms, The art of illuminating as practised in Europe from the earliest times, 1860). If you like to, you can change the background color.

This is a very subtle design that I considered as a backsplash for my kitchen. I didn't want the print screaming, but this was too little. The print sort of got lost on the wall. I think it would work well for a small backsplash space. The design is true to color in the picture. It is minimal but very pretty.
