Dulle Griet (Mad Meg) by Pieter Bruegel Jigsaw Puzzle

Dulle Griet (Mad Meg) by Pieter Bruegel Jigsaw Puzzle

Dulle Griet (Mad Meg) by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1561, is an ink and gouache (opaque watercolor) drawing for a finished oil painting. It tells the Flemish folktale of a madwoman, Meg, who leads an army of covetous women looting everything in sight, until in their greed they decide to invade and rob Hell itself. In this surrealistic landscape that includes the mouth of hell itself and a legion of bizarre, demonic creatures, the influence of Hieronymus Bosch is unmistakable. This indictment of greed and envy is related to the Bruegel’s Seven Deadly Sins series. Pieter Bruegel (Brueghel) the Elder (c. 1525 - 1569) was a Dutch/Flemish painter and printmaker of the Northern Renaissance. Among the first artists to incorporate realistic details and subject matter from landscape and the life of the common people, Bruegel all but invented the Dutch art of genre painting. His many lively and witty paintings of peasants influenced many generations of artists, from Rembrandt through the Realists of the modern era.

Great little puzzle that offers a challenge. Nice way to de-stress during this pandemic. Sharp, vivid colors make the puzzle attractive and eye popping!

The picture quality is fantastic on these puzzles. They have a high gloss finish and look fantastic. My only complaint is that there is a lot of movement with the pieces compared to regular cardboard pieces. Once compelted there is still a lot of play and pieces can move out of place. The puzzle says 8x10 But was about 1/4, 1/8 shorter on either end. Yes there are some concerns but I would definitely order another puzzle. Print and finish were great
