This crimson red and sun gold Tree of Life is an actual oak tree, in a park across the street from my house, that I drew on location in pen and ink in my hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. The Mighty Oak in the Meadow is a landmark in Delaware Park, the flagship Olmsted Park of Buffalo, NY. This is as lovely a tree as you will find anywhere in the world, and it's a joy to see it standing in the center of a city. It is known throughout Buffalo and its distinctive shape makes it instantly recognizable as a kind of symbol of strength. I drew the tree on site in the park, -- the old-fashioned way, in a sketchbook with pen and ink. Then I enjoyed splashing it with color!
