Embers Unfolding sounds like the moment heat remembers it was once flame. The music would bloom in waves, beginning with a low, smoldering hum — cellos and basses breathing like coals inhaling air. Gradually, brighter tones flare upward, violins and brass flickering like sparks finding their rhythm again. There is movement, urgency, and tenderness all at once: the sound of fire that is not destructive, but transformative. The deeper burnt tones feel like memory and ash, while the brighter reds burst forward with life, courage, and renewal. This piece would swell like something waking, gripping the heart with warmth, resilience, and a passionate will to rise. This watercolor design was hand-painted by my mother, Meghan Humlie.
