Embrace the Suck, Obama, A BRIEF HISTORY OF "THE SUCK" "The Suck" likely goes back to roughly post Andrew Jackson. This is where the reigns of government are increasingly being taken up by people who were born post Revolution. As these United States emerge from the Civil War, "the suck" gains momentum as Abraham Lincoln is assassinated before he can begin the work of down-sizing the vastly expanded Federal Government needed to successfully prosecute the war, "The suck" gains it's first major political victories with the passage of the 16th, 17th, and 18th amendments, the creation of the Federal Reserve, and the election of Woodrow Wilson. "The suck" is rolled back by the Presidency of Calvin Coolidge, IMO our most underrated President. The Great Depression, with the demand that government "do something" sets the stage for a rapid advancement of "the suck" by FDR. It has continued unabated from that point, gaining momentum as time rolls on. The only notable thing about the current president (non-capitalization deliberate), is the dramatic increase in the rate of advance of "the suck".
