EU (European Union) Flag of Europe Watch

This design features the Flag of Europe (or European Flag), which is an official symbol used by two separate organisations, the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (EU). It consists of a circle of twelve five-pointed gold stars on an azure blue background. The flag was first designed in 1955, and it was officially adopted later that year by the Council of Europe as a symbol for the whole of Europe. The Council of Europe urged it to be adopted by other European organisations, and in 1985 the European Communities (EC) adopted it; the EU also inherited the emblem's use when it was formed in 1993. The European flag can be seen as a symbol of the political identity and unity of Europe.
