About This Design

Eva Tanguay Keator Opera House Art Nouveau Poster Mug

Eva Tanguay Keator Opera House Art Nouveau Poster Mug

Eva Tanguay has been called the first mass-media celebrity, compared to Madonna and Lady Gaga, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles. She drew record crowds of frenzied fans and was the highest paid entertainer of her era. Tanguay was famous for her flamboyant risqué costumes, exuberant personality, wild curly hair, publicity stunts, irreverent sense of humor and uninhibited sexuality. She was as brassy and self-confident as the songs she sang: Its All Been Done Before But Never the Way I Do It, Go As Far As You Like, and I Want Someone to Go Wild With Me. She was, by all accounts, the first liberated, assertive, unapologetic twentieth century woman. And, on December 21st, 1894, she performed at the famous Keator Opera House in Historic Homer, NY. After that, she went on to Broadway, starred in the Ziegfeld follies, made two silent film comedies and fascinated vaudeville audiences for more than three decades.

Artistically, I love the art nouveau style of the poster on this mug. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the printing. "Custom" printed mugs I have seen in the past always looked more like runny decals pasted on. This one was such great quality that I will be ordering more. Much better than I expected. Great quality printing-accurate colors and clear.

This is a gorgeous mug that makes me feel as though I am outdoors in my Hosta garden, on a beautiful day in Spring! The printing is lovely and sharp just like my painting. I shall be displaying this mug at an exhibition soon!
