Faintail Piwakawaka Ceramic Tile
Fantails, also know by the Maori name Piwakawaka, are wonderful birds, friendly, active and agile. The bird in this design is drawn incorporating Maori Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for “loop”) is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond, symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. The tones of brown and white are inspired by the true colours of the fantail.

From the pictures we needed to replace two tiles that had the old toothbrush and soap dish and the tile guy said two tiles would have to be removed. The tiles were PERFECT! just a slight color difference to the naked eye but they match pretty darn good. Tile guy had to shave the back because the 1957 tile was thinner but as you can see it worked out great! We are elated over the moon happy, Thank you!
