Daughters of the American Revolution DAR History USA Star a lineage-based membership organization for women who can trace their lineage back to someone involved in the American Revolution promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. For many years, the DAR and the SAR had been criticized for not being inclusive and for its past policies that excluded individuals based on race and ethnicity. However, over time, the organization has made efforts to address these issues and become more inclusive and has started to accept a broader range of applications, including those from individuals with African American and Native American heritage.
