Félix Vallotton - Soleil couchant dans la brume (Sunset in the mist), 1911. Félix Edouard Vallotton (1865 – 1925) was a Swiss painter and printmaker associated with Les Nabis. He was an important figure in the development of the modern woodcut. Even his oil paintings make me think of woodcuts, they are usually painted in a very severe style. Probably for this reason I find this sunset both restful and majestic.
