Postcard inspired by a charming painting by English artist Charles Edward Hallé (1846–1914). The name of the painting is 'The archer' and, although I haven't been able to verify it, I think the female archer may be a representation of Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunt, or Diana, her Roman counterpart. Artemis' symbols are bow, quiver and hunting knives, while Diana is associated with the Moon, woodland and wild animals.
