Our Founding Fathers put the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution first for a reason. Democracy cannot exist without the people. Don't wait until July 4, celebrate arguably THE most valuable right we have as Americans. Freedom of expression is everything. Many came to America to practice their religion freely. Without protected speech, intelligent debate cannot occur. A free press serves as a watch dog, a fourth arm, to the government. The right to assemble, to protest, has been a time-honored American tradition since the days of the colonists.
