Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated places in the world, and it has the highest number of skyscrapers of any city; its residents have some of the highest life expectancies in the world. The flag shows a white stylised five-petal Hong Kong orchid tree (Bauhinia blakeana) flower in the centre of a red background.
