Floating Hanabishi Watch

Floating Hanabishi is a crest pattern. This morning (November 18, 2015), in NHK's morning drama 'Asa ga Kita', the Floating Hanabishi was drawn on the curtain at the eaves near 'Kanoya', Asa's bridegroom's place, so I quickly drew a diagram. In heraldry, a butterfly with its wings spread out flat and symmetrical is called a 'lying butterfly' or 'floating butterfly', and the shape is mimicked by the Hanabishi crest to create the Floating Hanabishi. / 'Floating twill' refers to the twill of a floating weave fabric. Simply calling it 'floating twill' does not refer to a specific pattern. However, in later years, the 'butterfly floating twill' became widespread, and the term 'floating twill' came to refer to a butterfly-shaped floating twill, and eventually, 'floating twill' became synonymous with 'lying butterfly', and was recognized as an alternate name.
