The Franz Mark expressionist masterpiece “Blue Horses”. Franz Marc was one of the major painters of the German Expressionist movement. His paintings are notable for his use of bright primary colors and his cubist portrayal of animals. His latter works were heavily influenced by WWI. He was killed at the battle of Verdun in 1916. He was 36 years old.
