The Atalanta was a training ship that disappeared with its entire crew in 1880. The Atalanta set sail from the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda for Falmouth, England on January 31, 1880. It's presumed that the Atalanta sank in a powerful storm that crossed its route a couple of weeks after it sailed. The Atalanta was a 26-gun frigate that was launched in 1844 as the HMS Juno. It was renamed the HMS Mariner in January 1878 and then the HMS Atalanta two weeks later.

This clock is so cute! Loved that I could personalize it with my daughter’s name. She just got her big girl bed so we decorated with unicorns. I thought this would be good to have in her room.
