Although called gray kangaroos, they are light gray-brown to chocolate in color with paler undersides. Western gray kangaroos sometimes have white marks on the forehead and, unlike other kangaroos, the muzzle is finely haired. Males have a strong, characteristic odor and well-muscled shoulders and forearms.
