Ginkgo crest design
This design was created with reference to the one drawn on the tower of Nakamura-za theater in 'Prosperity of Edo' painted by Hiroshige Utagawa, published in 'Family crests and family names' by Takarajima-sha (September 20, 2014).
Originally, the family crest of Kanzaburo Nakamura was 'dancing crane inside a circle.' However, because the 5th shogun, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, prohibited the use of the character or design of 'crane,' which was the name of his beloved daughter, the ginkgo design, which resembles a crane spreading its wings and is also similar to an open fan, a symbol of good fortune, was chosen instead (Takarajima-sha 'Family crests and family names').

I'm very disappointed with the image quality of the shirt. The Hanes shirt is great but the image is terrible. I purchased this shirt for my son to wear on his birthday. He will still wear it but I'm so disappointed with the way it looks. The image is faded and blurred. I ordering it on the grey just like the picture and the colors are no where close to being as vibrant as they show on the sample.. I also thought the image would cover more of the shirt. I ordered a YL and the image is just a 5 inch by 5 inch image. It is just a small square in the middle of the shirt. like an iron-on. I'm so very disappointed.
