The work feautures a man raising his arms illumined by his white shirt. The faceless soldiers of Napoleon point their guns with bayonets as the bodies of the slain lay at the ground covered in blood. Considered a revolutionary work within the evolution of Western painting, The Third of May continues to retain its original force and power.
