Grand Teton National Park Mountain Range 1890s Photo Print

Grand Teton National Park Mountain Range 1890s Photo Print

This is a restored copy of The Teton Mountain Range, a circa 1895 oil on canvas by Charles Partridge Adams, 1858-1942. Charles Partridge Adams was a largely self taught American impressionist landscape artist who painted primarily in Colorado, and secondarily in California. Some paintings were also made in other Rocky Mountain states, the Pacific Northwest and Canada, and a few in Louisiana, the East Coast and Europe. Adams was born in Franklin, Massachusetts; his family moved to Denver in 1876. In 1877 he began work as an engraver in Denver, and received lessons from Helen Henderson Chain, an artist who had studied with George Inness. In 1885 he traveled to the East Coast and visited the studios of George Inness and Worthington Whittredge, and in 1888 he traveled to California and visited the studios of William Keith and Thomas Hill. He traveled to Louisiana in 1890, and to Europe in the summer of 1914. He spent the winter of 1916 in California, and moved to Los Angeles in 1920, and built a second home in Laguna Beach in 1926. Adams is known for his views of snowy mountain peaks in early morning or sunset light, or wreathed in storm clouds, and for his luminous sunset and twilight paintings of the river bottoms near Denver. Most of Adams paintings are enhanced by the use of stronger colors than one would find in a photograph. The evening shadows are bluer, the spring grass is greener, the sunsets more strikingly yellow or orange. He sometimes used very small areas of intense blue and red to enliven a dark shadowed area such as the heart of a clump of willows or the dark base of an aspen tree. He also made the mountains look about twice as tall as they actually look, as if seen through a telephoto lens.

Ordered this as a surprise for my nephew’s first birthday. It came out beautiful! So many joyful tears were she’d when it was unwrapped. Why then did I give this 4 stars? I made three attempts to order this through the app on my iPhone. First time, got all the pics loaded, clicked to resize it and lost everything. I tried again, this time, when I clicked on the “add to cart” button, the button froze and I couldn’t buy it. I nearly gave up. Three days later, I tried one more time and it went through that time. On a positive note, the collage came in record time, arriving the day before the party, though it was scheduled to arrive afterward. Overall, excellent product. High quality, well worth the $$$. Gorgeous!!! Paper quality is superb! Colors are vibrant! Everything is aligned beautifully. Only flaw, the picture had a 2 in scratch directly through the main photo. It’s an obvious scratch, one I was initially very bothered by. The sender had to have seen it and yet, still mailed it as it. I would have asked for a new one had I not needed to gift it the very next day. Otherwise, it’s stunning. I would definitely purchase again.

This is one super nice item! It is a great work of art for my wall. It would make a great framed gift too! The weight of the paper used, being Kodak paper, is spot on perfect! The printing of this fine work of art photo is top notch gallery worthy all the way!

Beautiful! High quality, semi-gloss, nice weight paper. Wonderful Bible verse and just such a lovely watercolor! BE AWARE: White border around the artwork included in size. My 8.5x11" print has a 1/2" white border. The actual artwork is 7.5x10 inches I had not understood this before; however, it was just as pictured on Zazzle. I had planned on matting, so this will workout perfectly when done! :). High quality, nice weight paper, clear print, good color
