Trotsky was later expelled from the Communist Party in 1927 and banished around 1929 for his opposition to the authoritarianism of Stalin. His writings include Literature and Revolution and the autobiographical My Life. Trotsky was murdered at the behest of Stalin while in exile in Mexico.
