Harold Wilson Mug
Harold Wilson was a Labour British Prime Minister between 1964 and 1970, and again from 1974-1976. Born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire in 1911, Wilson led Great Britain through in two very different economic situations. His first term in office was during a realtively prosperous time in the Sixties, but during his time as Prime Minister in the Seventies, his ambitions were thwarted by an economic crisis affecting much of the western world. However, his image as a no-nonsense pipe-smoking Northerner was bolstered by some skill at defenindg decency and British interests, despite opposition and pressure from all sides. For the purposes of this design, though, Wilson represents a Britain gone by, when leaders could use pipe-smoking as a symbol of stability and strength, and decency was the of leadership.
