Helena Horse Paper Mosaic Apron

Helena Paper Mosaic Horse is part of a growing group of whimsical creatures who visit or inhabit my studio. She appears elsewhere on this site with Harried Paper Mosaic Horse, her twin. I skipped right over the 1950s girls' obsession with horses and went right to mystery and detective fiction, which may partially explain my reluctance include horses in the small friends' universe. That said, Helena Paper Mosaic Horse has come in through her connection to the small friends' mosaic family, which includes a hippo, a cat, and a tiny pig. Her first public appearance will be at Art-On-A-Line at the Fine Arts Building at the the MN State Fairgrounds. I make paper mosaics by cutting up some of my old watercolor paintings into tiny bits and gluing them onto archival paper. It is incredibly absorbing, and allows me to make intricate designs without the hassle of cutting actual ceramic tile. It is also recycling. Enjoy!
