Herd of Cattle Beside the Sea (by Eugène Burnand) Stone Coaster
This design features a painting by the Swiss artist Eugène Burnand (1850–1921). It shows a farmer on horseback leading his large herd of cattle towards the sea. The cows are standing on the sand and some of the animals are slowly venturing towards the water. Most of the cows have black hair, while some of them are brown. The horse that the farmer is riding is white, making it more easily visible in front of the cows. All of the cows have horns on their head. There are gentle waves lapping onto the beach from the sea. The sky is cloudy and gray, but the sand is golden. The original artwork was painted by Eugène Burnand in 1878.

I had been looking for coasters in stores for a while now. So glad when I found these coasters. I made a set of six using my own photos. The travertine was exactly what I had wanted for the "old world" effect and adding my favorite photos made them simply perfect!
