“Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem,” “Visit the interior of the earth and rectifying (purifying) you will find the hidden stone.” The motto originated in L’Azoth des Philosophes by the 15th Century alchemist Basil Valentine. In chemistry, vitriol is iron or copper sulfate salts and their derivative, sulfuric acid. The name comes from the Latin for “glassy,” after the resemblance of iron sulfate to shards of green glass. Vitriol is symbolized alchemically as the “green lion,” a poisonous substance that appears when metal is degraded by acid. Sulfuric acid, or oil of vitriol, was used in the synthesis of the lapis philosophorum- the Philosopher’s Stone. One unique property of sulfuric acid is the dissolution of metals- all except for gold, on which it has no effect. These cufflinks are a sublime accessory for the discerning gentleman.

I bought this as a wedding gift for my fiancé. His brother passed away six years ago and cannot attend our wedding this July. My fiancé is heartbroken over this and I needed a way to include his brother. Since I chose a bouquet charm to remember my grandfather I knew I needed something just right for him. I searched the internet up and down with zero luck! I couldn’t give up and I came across this listing. My heart exploded with joy! He is going to love these so much. I showed my sister in law and my Matron of Honor and they both agreed he will truly be touched. I thank this shop so so much for creating this for me!! I plan to give him these in private before our rehearsal dinner on July 11, 2019. I can’t thank this shop/creator enough. The picture came out very clear. However, the printing “always by your side” is a little blurry. I’m not concerned about the blurry text because to me this gift is priceless. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful addition to my husband’s tux and provided a piece of his father at our wedding. This was excellent quality. The handle piece broke from the picture side when it was dropped but it was perfect for our wedding and we will still keep it forever. .
