Heron's Eclipse T-Shirt

All Wild Squirrel Press designs are based on linoleum block prints created for a 19th Century letter press. Our "Blue Heron's Eclipse" design was inspired in part by the 2017 Lunar Eclipse and in part by the midsummer visit of a Great Blue Heron to the riverbank in our back yard. The image of the eclipse in its "diamond ring" phase reminds us that darkness can sometimes help us see more clearly the brilliance of what is real and true. The heron, which relies on its fishing skills for survival, is viewed as symbolic of the qualities of patience and great skill, both of which are virtues that we can all emulate to see us through the thick and thin, to persevere, and to prevail.
