Hilda's Coffee Shop has been the tranquil anchor of downtown San Anselmo since 1960, when a Norwegian guy named Tor Nielsen named a diner after his wife and started serving German-style pancakes to Marin families who didn't need much else. No website. Rarely answered the phone. Cash only. Sue Kirton ran it for decades. Kept the kitchen workers for twenty years. Held the line through floods, the pandemic, dinner experiments. It closed in 2025 — not from neglect, but from parking meters and a San Anselmo that kept getting wealthier and somehow kept losing the things worth having. My 11 yo wore adult XL (5’7” 165#). The 8yo is small framed. She wore adult small and tied it in the back. Dark haired male wore adult large and 5’9”, 110# female wore adult medium . Good quality dark Heather gray, Gildan brand shirt. -it was next up from basic choice and cost about $20 per shirt. Not too thick or thin. Washed and dried well, no major shrinkage. Not see-through. Can wear a bra under it fine. Screen print is just as shown and well done, front and back.
