I love Route 66! I don't remember when I became interested, but I have driven many parts of it over the years. Some trips are harder than others as the road itself changes for better or worse. It's exciting to see something new or repaired and sad to see what isn't holding up. I'm still missing the end of the road in CA and maybe a few stretches in various states, but I try for something old and something new on each journey. Illinois is the beginning and you can see I've been there.
