Hollywood Tropical Tissue Paper

Classic retro 1940s style tropical cattaleya orchids and calladium and palm leaves hearken back to the exuberant post-WWII florid botanical craze that swept the ultra chic design world of movie stars, producers, and casting agents in every movie fan's fantasies. This classic 60s barkcloth tropical leaf and flower pattern was captured from actual fabric curtains found at a garage sale. Barkcloth fabric, a textured heavyweight cotton, was popular for mid-century modern and Hawaiian print clothing, and upholstery and drapery, from the late 1930s through the 1960s. The pattern features red caladium and white orchid flowers, Sansevieria (snake plant) and large leaves and fern foliage. This particular pattern is called "Arcadia."
