The Flag of Hong Kong (Chinese: 香港區旗) - or Regional Flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (Chinese: 中華人民共和國香港特別行政區區旗) — features a white, stylised, five-petal Hong Kong orchid tree (Bauhinia blakeana) flower in the centre of a red field. Its design was adopted on 4 April 1990 at the Third Session of the Seventh National People's Congress. The design of the flag carries cultural, political, and regional meanings.
