Horizontal Madness Resin and Brass Ring

Cast and fabricated horizontal statement ring. Filled with resin. This ring has a normal ring band and does not interrupt any normal hand movement as many may think- it is actually very comfortable! I suggest to wear on either the middle or ring finger. Definitely a conversation starter!

Sophia Sophia is the sole designer, maker and creator of StudioSophiaSophia, a jewelry brand that caters to the lovers of colorful and bold adornment. She holds a BFA from Pratt Institute and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, both in Jewelry and Metals.
Sophia draws inspiration from her impressive collection of patterned garments, a freshly cut citrus fruit, mismatched socks, flea markets, shapes, shadows, a summer memory, a candid photograph, day dreams, rainbow makers, CocoRosie, Cirque Du Soleil, trolls, a homemade haircut, anything fluorescent, Mara Hoffman, nail polish, paintings, self-portraits, textiles, zumba, Marjorie Schick, Art Smith, The Memphis Group and most importantly, COLOR!
Using mostly brass and sterling silver, Sophia hand-fabricates shapes by forming, sawing and soldering wire and sheet to create geometric areas or so-called bezels. These shapes are then soldered, dangled and thoughtfully placed next to each other in interesting compositions. Sophia also has a variety of shapes that were first handmade from wax and are now molds and cast into metal when she needs them. The pieces are then constructed, polished and sent to the platers if need be (the brass has the option to be 14k gold plated). Lastly, the shapes are filled with a high quality jeweler's resin that is hand-mixed with pigment, giving her the ability to use almost any color imaginable!
StudioSophiaSophia makes jewelry that is definitely not for everyone. It is for the brave, the eccentric, the lovers of color and shape and grandiosity. She thinks of her work as wearable small paintings meant for starting conversations and making statements. She is currently living and working in Upstate, NY.
