I was amazed to read this in a 1936 writing by Kurt Vonnegut. Back then he was right on the money with this quote. " The hand that stocks the Drugstore rules the world" The book is Cat's Cradle. Another quote that hits home is "Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before... He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way." That makes the saying 'Ignorance is Bliss" something to ponder.
