The high quality materials seem porcelain-like with a very smooth finish. The gold colored hanging string is very attractive. I got the ornament for Christmas, and I like the way it looks on our family Christmas tree. I would highly recommend the ornament. I only wish that the ornament had been less expensive, retailing at $20.95. It was a gift to my sister in law and her new husband (who are both marines). And they absolutely adored it. It was a high quality photo to begin with so I thought shrinking it down would ruin it, but it didn't and it looked fabulous.
