Ikeda facing butterfly travel mug
Ikeda Mukai-cho (facing butterfly crest): The family crest of the Kamogata Ikeda family: In 1672, when Mitsumasa retired and his eldest son Tsunamasa succeeded him, he gave his younger brother Masatoki 25,000 koku of newly developed land and established a branch domain in Toyonaka (Okayama Prefecture), Kamogata. The family crest is the 'facing butterfly' (Ikeda Mukai-cho), and the alternate crest is the 'three gentian' (Takahashi Kenichi, "The Family Crests of Daimyo Families"). 'Mukai' refers to two things facing each other. The character 'mukai' is used to distinguish it from the 'directly facing' crest (Awagasaka Tsumao, "The Story of Family Crests").
