In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
I love that poem by Christina Rossetti and I loved creating these snowflakes to go with it. When I was dreaming up the snowflakes I was thinking of evenings I love here in Buffalo, N.Y., when the snow starts falling softly just as the streetlamps are going on. The shades of blue, from indigo to baby blue, bring across that feeling of peace and tranquility that I believe Christina Rossetti was imagining.
