Interkosmos was a Soviet space program created to give nations allied with the Soviet Union access to space missions. Besides the Warsaw Pact nations of Eastern Europe, other countries that participated were Afghanistan, Cuba, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Non-aligned nations such as India and Syria also took part, as well as France.
