Island and Cloud Shadow - Bone China mug
16 August found me canoeing south on Sylvester Lake from the art camp on the shore of Wolf Lake, Temagami District. The mood of open water is entirely influenced by wind and sky. Today it's like a fairy tale. The lake is smooth and the reflections exquisite. Looking behind us at the old growth forest on the western shore, I was entranced by a cloud shadow making an arrow shape with its reflection, and inserted in its tip was the sharp bright sliver of a granite island, glowing pink in the sun. I began this painting shortly after the Wolf Lake trip, but had to set it aside for the autumn field work and paintings of the Frontenac Arch. I have allowed the soft violet underpainting which lies within the folds of the forest, forming an atmosphere for the trees, to emerge in the unfinished painting of the reflection of the nearer forest on the left. The influence of the violet underpainting also makes the pale blue sky more subtle, and supports the darker sky reflection which reaches forward toward our canoe, which was floating on cloud reflections. http://karstaddailypaintings.blogspot.ca/2014/01/island-and-cloud-shadow-oil-on-canvas.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ALETA KARSTAD is an artist of the out of doors. I love the gorgeous lettering on this and it's the perfect gift for the women in your life! The printing looked good, I like how the image was on both sides of the mug.

I love the size of these mugs - I was looking for something that held a decent amount, but wasn't the 'standard' coffee mug size and shape. These were a promo item/giveaway so I really wanted them to stand out a bit and be 'different' from the norm. Love them! The printing was clear and is holding up nicely with use. I'm very pleased with the way they came out and have received many compliments on the quality.

This mug is imprinted with a Bach Solos Suite for Cello. It was purchased as a thank you gift for a professional cellist friend who often performs this work. The cup is made of a high-grade ceramic and is fairly light. The walls are not too thick and it is a small to medium size. It's well finished, has a high-gloss glaze, and looks very elegant. The Bach Solo Suite score on the example I received was clear and had high contrast. Even though the staffs were small, the music was easy to read. The cellist who received this cup immediately knew what the music was as soon as she set eyes on it.
