ISS Crews: Expedition 42 Coffee Mug

All permanent ISS crews are named "Expedition n", where n is sequentially increased with each expedition. Resupply mission crews and space tourists are excluded. As of August 2013, the current crew is number 36. The first 6 crews of the Space Station Alpha consisted of 3 members, either 2 Russians and 1 American or 2 Americans and 1 Russian. The first European Space Agency astronaut flew as part of Expedition 14. Beginning with Expedition 20, each 3 person “team” served on 2 consecutive Expedition crews, with the Commander having served on the previous crews – a product of a nearly complete Space Station and having the Space Shuttle flying!
