This illustration originates from A csudafa (The Wonder Tree), a 1924 Budapest publication by Elek Benedek, one of Hungary’s most influential literary figures. The collection draws from centuries-old folk traditions, blending fantasy with ethical reflection and a distinctly rural Hungarian worldview.
