Japanese Swallowtail Tile

The wings and body of a swallowtail butterfly are decorated with designs inspired by patterns on kimonos and haoris from Japan, with traditional motifs like seigaiha or waves, kikko or geometric tortoiseshells decorated with flowers, and yagasuri or arrow fletching. These patterns use colors found in these clothes such as gold, green, bright purple, turquoise blue, white, and black. The antennae take inspiration from the brush strokes of Japanese sumi-e artwork and kanji. This tile can be framed to create a trivet or placed inside a wooden gift box lid. Tiles without a frame will also fit inside the large gift box to create a matching set.

From the pictures we needed to replace two tiles that had the old toothbrush and soap dish and the tile guy said two tiles would have to be removed. The tiles were PERFECT! just a slight color difference to the naked eye but they match pretty darn good. Tile guy had to shave the back because the 1957 tile was thinner but as you can see it worked out great! We are elated over the moon happy, Thank you!
