Known as just Correggio, was the foremost painter of the Parma school of the High Italian Renaissance, was responsible for some of the most vigorous and sensuous works of the sixteenth century. Correggio is chiefly famous for the dome frescoes in S. Giovanni Evangelista and the Cathedral of Parma, and major altarpieces. His late works influenced the style of many Baroque and Rococo artists.
