John Adams was the second President of the United States, serving from 1797 to 1801. When John Adams was President of the United States, there were 15 stars on the U.S. flag. This version of the flag, known as the "Star-Spangled Banner," featured 15 stars and 15 stripes. It was adopted on May 1, 1795, following the admission of Vermont and Kentucky as the 14th and 15th states, respectively. This design was used during the early years of Adams' presidency.
