John Ringling Hotel Note Card
The El Vernona Hotel opened in 1926 and became the crown jewel of Sarasota, Florida. John Ringling acquired the hotel in 1930 and the presentation of amazing circus acts in the hotel dining room added color and fanfare. It was the place to be seen for decades in this gulf coast paradise. The hotel was designed by Dwight James Baum and built by Owen Burns. The building was razed in the 90's to make way for a parking structure but the memories and tales live on. Artist d.a.gordon dart captured the whimsical flare of the hotel.
