Kanji numeral eight in circle watch
This KAMON is called 'Maru-ni hachi-no-ji' in Japan. The numeral eight was appreciated because its shape broadens toward the bottom. In addition, it is the initial letter of Hachiman Bodhisattva, a war god. These seem to be the main reasons this character were used for family crests.
