KK Forster's Tern T-Shirt
Forster's tern, named for Johann Reinhold Forster, is a small tern native to North America. It is distinguished from the common tern by the presence of a gray center to its white tail and the lack of a dark primary wedge on its upper wings. A marsh-dwelling species, it nests in the summer, building ground-scrape nests in which to raise its young. This one is preparing to dive for fish. (I know this because it dove as soon as I took the picture.)
