Kratips are used to store glutinous sticky rice, Khao Niao in Thai ข้าวเหนียว and Lao ເຂົ້າໜຽວ. Sticky rice is a staple diet of northern Thais (Lanna people) and northeastern Thais (Isan), who share their southeast Asian culinary culture with the people of Laos.
